Which foot first?
Do I go front foot first, or back foot first? This is a highly disputed topic in Soap Shoes circles. There is no right or wrong way, just preferred methods;Jumping front foot first generally means you're going to hit the rail with increased momentum, ideal if you're grinding a sticky or flat rail and need some more speed, but this comes at the cost of control. Jumping back foot first will give you less momentum (and therefore less speed) which is ideal if the rail you're grinding is steep and you need more control. Many people, including myself interchange the two methods depending on the situation, but the majority of the time back foot first is the preferred way.
